During a Game 1 loss on Sunday, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving couldn’t help but respond to the boos, taunts, and insults of Boston Celtics fans.
On Tuesday, Irving was given a $50,000 fine from the NBA for “obscene gestures and profane language” directed at the Boston crowd.
Irving, 30, played two seasons with the Celtics and described the fans in Boston as a “scorned girlfriend” after a game in March. His Nets teammate Kevin Durant offered a similar explanation Tuesday.
